Personal Statement
Dear Coach,
My name is Nicholas Gilbert; I am a senior at Aviano High school, Italy, a military/DODEA school. For me, soccer is not just a game; it is my life; it has shaped me and taught me a lot. I always left a good impression on every game I had the pleasure to play and coaches with whom I am still in contact. I am a humble player, believes in respect and rules, honesty, and being correct and respectful no matter the circumstances. I've never received a yellow card or red card in my whole career. My aspiration for college is to receive an education studying Criminal Justice as my major while also helping my team and community. I've been playing soccer in Italy for 13 years and 2 years in the states, I have always played with teams with players older than me. I have great experience and believe I can help win and receive amazing results. I've also had a very low self-esteem at the beginning of my soccer career because of my height, I always had trouble during games where players were mocking me and bringing me down whenever I scored or assisted in the game, but then I realized that height didn't matter, because every game I was always one of the best on the field, this has shaped me and made me a better player.
