Personal Statement
Hola, my name is Pablo Juninho Zorrilla and I have been playing soccer for 13 years - 10 years at the club level, and 5 of those years playing in Germany. I am a military brat and as a family member of a service member, I have had to move a lot, thus I feel I am well adjusted to adapting to new environments and challenges. Moving frequently has given me the opportunity to play soccer in many locations and at many levels. I have two strong legs and excellent ball control. My ability to pass the ball accurately and use my head are my best skills.
I am currently in Germany playing for FK03 Pirmasens in the U19 German 2nd division of Regionalliga, one of the strongest leagues in the Country. We won the Pokal Championship 2016-2017 in our U16 division. Previously, my club team was FCK1 Kaiserslautern where we finished the 2015-16 season in the U15 3er position Verbandesliga. While in Germany, I had the opportunity to play on a traveling team, have played multiple tournaments in multiples countries: Germany, England, Wales, Scotland, France, Italy and in Barcelona, Spain, and have played three years with USYS Region 1and 3, ODP Europe/TN State. In April of 2015, my team TSV Weinheim and I won the 5th position at a tournament in Barcelona, finishing 5th out of 58 teams. Soccer is a part of my everyday life, and I have an undeniable passion for the sport. This passion has also given me grit; a characteristic that I feel gives me an advantage on the field. I have also been awarded 3 times the Athletic-Academic and All Europe Award for my athletic achievement.
By the end of my junior year, I had all 4 years of required math finished along with AP foreign language, German 4, foreign language comes to me very easily, with me having completed multiple years in Spanish and skipping German 3 and going straight to German 4. I was recognized as a Silver and Gold Honor Roll Member by maintaining a 3.5-3.99 GPA, for all 4 quarters of my Junior/Senior year of high school. With my love for math and sciences, I would like to pursue a degree where I could use these strengths of mine, possibly in the Medical fields (Physical Therapy). I would also like to continue my foreign language studies.
I look forward to finding a great academic program that can benefit from my strengths as a soccer player. Growing as a student at the collegiate level, and as a player by becoming an integral part of a team, is my ultimate dream and of course, represent any of my countries in a National Team and World Cup: Germany, USA or Panamá. On September 2018, one of my dreams comes true. I was selected for Sub-20 Panamanian Men's National Team and for two Friendly matches with the Cuba Men's National Team. On December 2018, the dream of all, we qualify to go to Poland for the Sub-20 World Cup. God has been so good to me. Pablo J. Zorrilla
