Personal Statement
Hello,
My name is Adrian Ward, I have been playing football (soccer) for about eleven years. I first began playing soccer at the age of 6 years old with the German soccer league. My love and experience of soccer has shaped my attitude and goals for my future. My initial goal after high school is to attend a four year institution, and gain a degree in Physical Therapy. Since I have participated in athletics for most of my life, the love and drive of being on the field motivates me to want to strive to constantly being on the field, accomplish more in my personal and academic life. Constantly engaging in sports, has lead me to want and desire the goal of becoming a Physical Therapist. The understanding of how to protect and heal the body intrigues me. I have been raised to have a Plan of Execution with a contingency just in case. My plan is to attend college and play soccer, with achieving a professional status. If this plan does not come to fruition, I plan on attending Graduate school and completing my requirements in becoming a Physical Therapist. A large part of my childhood was spent watching German soccer, especially my favourite team Bayern Munich. Constantly, watching Bayern, my favorite players were Mario Gomez, Thomas Mueller, and Phillip Lam, who were and are lethal forces to be reckoned with for any opponent. Watching him play, made me realise that I wanted to play this sport for the rest of my life. Having played in the United States and overseas, I feel like my experience is unique and gives me a broad view of different tactics and insights of the beautiful game. I have played in Germany for eight years, and three years in the United States. While playing here in Germany, I have played with the second and third tier of age level league. I have also played in other countries and against a wide array of players from different cultural backgrounds. I feel, my experience is much more diverse and elevated than other candidates, who have only played in the United States , which usually has a small gene pool, of those who can only afford to play, instead of all economic backgrounds, who allows all talents to challenge an opponent on the field; which leads to experience and understanding the whole game.
