Personal Statement
I am looking to go to university primarily to advance my own academic ability. Having been accepted into and attending a secondary school that consistently appears at the top of UK national rankings, this is something that has been ingrained into me, and so I am very open to highly selective schools that will challenge me.
However, having played soccer for as long as I can remember, being involved in athletics at college is hugely important to me. I have the incredible opportunities to represent Brentford FC at youth level, and have represented my school in soccer as well. It would not only be an honor to play soccer at a collegiate level, but also, I believe, a necessity. I feel that I have a lot more potential waiting to be realized, and that collegiate athletics is the best way to do this.
I believe that the same can be said for me as an athlete. I have represented my school not only in soccer at the highest level, but also Rugby, Badminton, Basketball, and Water Polo. The sense of camaraderie and individual leadership required to succeed in Rugby has been incredibly influential in how I perform as a keeper. I am loud, confident, and commanding as a keeper, and I owe this to my experience playing Rugby. Playing basketball allowed me to appreciate the need for personal skills and team chemistry in a winning team. I bring this into my soccer game by always aiming to keep my team positive, reassuring them after mistakes, and lauding praise for good plays, making sure that I and everyone else gives 100%.
