Personal Statement
I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to play soccer as a kid. Coming from a war stricken country with not much opportunity for improvement, my soccer ball was the sole thing keeping me on the pitch and off of the streets. My promise to my younger self was to build a better life for myself and my family through the passion I developed for soccer. I not only need to prove to myself, but also my family and those around me, that people from beggarly regions can succeed through soccer too. As my soccer idol, Paulo Dybala, once said; ‘‘God gave us a gift, and that gift has to be worked.’’ Practicing on the soccer pitch has become a daily routine, as well as working with my teammates and listening to my trainers. ‘‘Fail to prepare. Prepare to fail’’ as Roy Keane once said. When I play soccer I don’t just play for myself; I play for my family, my team, and most of all my university.
When playing for my future school, I will show an eagerness and a determination in practice every single day. As well as my skill contribution and experience in playing attacker, defender, and goalkeeper. Being an am-bipedal has developed my role as a versatile player in almost any position available on the pitch.
