Personal Statement
My name is Alessandro Rimicci, I am a 17-year-old Italian boy who lived abroad for most of his life. I will get my IB diploma in 2022 and aim to continue my studies abroad and preferably in the US.
I always played soccer since I was 4 years old, starting in Switzerland and playing for FC Schaffhausen (second division Swiss League) youth teams (always in the first team).
During all those years (up to the U12 team) we always played at the highest level of the swiss championship and participate in several international tournaments. All these experiences made me grow also thanks to the support of well-prepared and committed trainers. My role, at that time, was left defender as I was physically strong and have a very good left foot.
Then we moved to the Netherlands and I played 2 years (U13 and U14) for Roda ’23 Bovenkerk, a team playing at the regional level being part of the Ajax “controlled” teams. My role was left-wing and I contributed greatly to the championship won in the second year.
Finally, I moved back to Italy in 2018 and joined the second team of FC Bologna 1909 (Serie A team) for U15 and U16 championships. This way I could play with continuity and perform, at the same time, in my studies (at International School of Bologna, an IB school). My role became right-wing as I could then take advantage of my left foot dominance to become a real attacking threat. Apart from the fact that we continuously won almost all matches we played, I was selected in 2019 (and beginning of 2020) in the Province selection that was supposed to play a national tournament at the end of the season.
Unfortunately, COVID 19 forced us to stop championships in March 2020.
This last season we restarted playing in October and the whole team moved under a different Sports Association (Corticella) which is the second most competitive in the Bologna area. We could play (again because of COVID 19), at the highest U17 regional level, only 3 matches at the beginning and then 3 matches at the end of the season, all won.
We, however, continued to train 4 times a week and played several friendly matches, often against the adult team playing in the Italian 4th Division.
I consider myself a pillar of the team and will continue in the U18 championship in the upcoming season 2021/22.
I can cover several roles in the attacking part of the team and have very good technical and athletic skills which I hope can be visible in the videos. I really love to be part of a team (my second family) and motivate my teammates to overperform and win all matches we play.
I could always balance my sports activity (4 trainings a week plus the match on the weekend) with my studies and I aim to continue to do so.
Giving this background, studying in the USA is the perfect fit for my aspiration (and my dreams): continue to play soccer at high varsity level and study in a high-quality academic environment.
So, really looking forward to getting such a big opportunity that will represent another milestone in my growth as a person and as a soccer player.
Thanks
Alessandro Rimicci
