Personal Statement
My goal is to play soccer at a high level as I pursue my studies. I'm an attacking midfielder with great technique and my strengths are ball control, dribble, vision, pass-shot (longshot, freekicks), change of pace and positioning. I'm also a really versatile player as I can play in many positions, right now, I'm playing as a striker for Unión Adarve, one of the best teams in Madrid, that is always placed in the top 5 youth teams of the region. I've also played sometimes as a winger and many times as a defensive midfielder and midfielder. Before moving to Madrid I've also played in Altorreal C.F., a club based in the spanish region of Murcia, I've also been selected for the official regional team (managed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation) which is constituted of the best players of Murcia, which are recruited by the best scouts of the area, with them I played some national tournaments against other regional teams and top national youth teams. Then I moved to Madrid and my first club was A.D. Fundación, where I spent 5 years playing in some of the best spanish youth leagues. Subsequently, I received an offer to play during 3 years for Montverde Soccer Academy (SIMA), in Florida, which is one of the best academies in the U.S. and offers a training plan of 3 hours per day during the whole year (including summer) with many championships during the year, a varsity high school league (where they've been unbeaten for more than 8 years) and weekly games against the best Florida teams such as Orlando City youth teams (it was the most common one as we shared the same facilities, training and medical staff, coaches and the majority of their players went to the academy school, Montverde Academy, one of the most reputed in Florida). For personal decisions and athletic goals (playing at the highest possible level in my country), I decided to come back to Madrid after my first year, although it was an incredible experience, and give a step forward to play in one of the top clubs of Madrid and Spain.
What makes me special in relation to other athletes is that I am a differential player, I bring some creativity in the field that makes the difference in close or even games and difficult moments. My main offensive characteristic is that I play really vertically and fast from the halfway line in advance which allows me to participate in many goals and assists, and my main defensive strength is that I play seriously in defense which helps me to press correctly and be well positioned in order to don't lose my mark and stop counter attacks.
In what character concerns, I'm a very competitive person on and off the pitch, I always give everything to win no matter the price and the effort whether on attack or defense. I'm very communicative and I tend to be very approachable with both teammates and coaches as I like to joke around, but I know when it's time to get serious and get down to business.
Academically, I don't think that there should be any problem, I speak fluently in Spanish, English and French as I have studied for 12 years in a french school until I got my "Brevet" title, then I spent the previously mentioned year studying in the U.S., in Montverde Academy (FL), playing in their high performance soccer academy. Right now I'm passing my A Level exams in a british school called Holy Mary British Catholic School, in Madrid, and I'm getting good grades as you can check in the documents that I posted on the "Academics" section, where my grades translated to the GPA system are equal to 3.75/4, but at the end of the year, when I'll take my final exams, I'm sure that it will be higher.
I hope that my profile fits with your team and college interests. Thanks for your attention,
Álvaro Gidrón.
