Personal Statement
My name is Theo Hubbard and I am from Bath, England. I have loved playing soccer for as long as I can remember. Despite loving the game itself, the aspect that engages me most of all is the challenges, of all magnitudes, that it has taught me to face and overcome. From playing and aiding charity work in Kokrobite, Ghana to playing in international youth tournaments in Sweden and Lithuania and even to waking up at 5:30 am 3 times a week to train football has provided me with countless life-changing lessons and experiences. It has taught me how to lead people on and off the pitch; how to effectively communicate and make connections with others and importantly football has impressed a relentless work ethic on me that is reflected not only in my success on the pitch but also in my academic achievements off the pitch.
As an international applicant I understand the extra challenges I face in securing a place at a US college and I would go as far to say I relish this challenge. Throughout my life I have found that when things are tough and hard work that in these moments, I am my best version of myself. Especially in my studies which second only to soccer are incredibly important to me. Therefore, I hope to achieve a place at a college where I can enjoy myself and importantly a college that will push me and get the most out of me as an academic and as a player.
