Personal Statement
My name is Rafael Sepó Alfonso and I am a 2017 graduate from high school.
I was born in Spain, in a town called Elche, even though I grew up in Albacete. In this town it is where I have started playing soccer, in the Albacete Balompié, a team that was playing in the Spanish first division. I started playing in their youth system when I was six years old and I stayed there till I was ten and moved to Madrid. A year after, we moved to Switzerland where I still live. In the meantime, I have played for FC Charmey, FC Broc, FC Central and FC Schoenberg. In those years, I have had the opportunity to play many sports besides soccer: judo, indoor soccer, horse riding, tennis, mountain biking, hiking, skiing and snowboarding, XC skiing and canoe. One of my other passions is travelling, I have been to Canada, USA, Italy, France , Greece, Malta, Portugal, Germany, Austria, and to Kazakhstan and Kirghizistan, where I was doing voluntary work this summer, giving leadership and English lessons. All these travelling, gave me the opportunity to learn a lot of languages ; currently, I speak very well English, Spanish and French, ok German and Italian, and I have some notions of Russian. My strong points academic wise are resilience, intelligence and passion for what I am doing ; on the sport side, I have a very good dive, reflexes and reactions, good handling and distribution, but above all, I never give up. If I need to bulldoze through 4 guys to get the ball, I will do it. I another strong point is communication. I have a lot of experience in debate, where I have attended a lot of forums and campus, such as European Youth Parliament (EYP), where on the international side I have been selected to participate in the International Forum of Laax 2016 and the Internation Session of Riva del Garda 2016. I also took a course in personal development in Madrid between 2016 and 2017, in Instituto de Pensamiento Positivo.
I love to constantly broad my horizons and push my limits. I strongly believe that if you are not ready to give everything you have in something, you are better off doing something else. That is the reason way I look for a very competitive university in both sides, sport and academic wise.
