Personal Statement
My name is João Vitor Almeida, I’m 20 years old, and I graduated from high school in 2015. Here in Brazil is very difficult to conciliate education and high-level sports. So, since my graduation, I’ve been focused in improving my English and soccer skills in order to continue my studies by starting my undergraduate degree in the US as a student-athlete. The athletics programs in the US is very differentiated because over there I do not have to choose either sports or education, but I can become successful in both.
I started playing club soccer since I was 7 years old, and I’ve always looking into practicing with great professionals in order to improve my performance as a soccer athlete. I have experienced playing in two positions: forward and midfielder. However, I believe that as a midfielder I have had better results as well as being more helpful to my teammates. Some of my best soccer experiences to date are: the Junior State Cup, which had some of the best division I Brazilian, and I’ve also played the Vacaria Cup, which is an international cup with several recognized South-American club teams.
