Personal Statement
I am a restless, impetuous, easy going, responsible and disciplined seventeen-year-old man who loves mind and physical exercise. I have been a good student in my school,Instituto Cumbres in Caracas, Venezuela, where I started practicing soccer since I was four years old.
I am currently playing for Metropolitanos F C team in the U17 National Elite category. I am also about to start my last year of high school. I am a goal oriented and focused person. I know where I want to go and I keep fighting every day to make things happen.
While I began to play in my school soccer team, I challenged myself to improve not only as a player but also as a person day by day. I was beginning to be the ace my coaches used to win every game, but more importantly, I felt shining mainly because of the love and passion I put on what I was doing.
I started to show different skills and capabilities in the field that would lead me to be called by several agents watching the school games from different soccer teams in Caracas. I began to realize that more commitment was requested of me. Next, I played for a club that gathers selected players of my age with improved skills and we achieved to win several championships. That makes myself to adapt for a more demanding and challenging game. I discovered that I could rapidly achieve a better level and improve my capabilities as a player.
Time passed quickly and I was selected during the Milan FC Junior Camp in Miami. I travelled to Milan, Italy, to participate in this camp when I was only eight years old and had a first amazing experience reaching the final. At thirteen years old, I participated in the Italian Soccer Management (ISM) tryout celebrated in Caracas, along with five hundred soccer players between thirteen and eighteen years old. ISM granted me the fifth place of the competition for the Best Soccer Player. This award gave me the opportunity to travel and play again in Europe at the International ISM Tryout in Perugia, Italy. I went to represent my country in one of the most important soccer schools in Italy, with many connections to professional Italian teams. I received the Best Young Player
award and an invitation letter to continue my studies and training in their academy. However, my parents decided not to consider it because of my young age. At this moment, I changed my mind and thought possible to seriously take soccer as a way of life, sharing my passion and dreams around it.
I have been playing uninterruptedly in first-class teams, passing through all the categories by age. I was always part of the top and high performance team inside the National Soccer League of Venezuela.
The road has not been easy. Difficulties have arisen which I been able to overcome. Last year, I had a tympanic perforation in my right ear during a soccer game that kept me off the field for three months. I partially lost my hearing. In order to recover it, I had a surgery that completely restored me. During this experience, I faced a very difficult time. I learned that nothing must be given for granted and, I have to accept my limitations at the time. This fact made me realize the importance of awareness, and keeping top shape and health conditions appropriately.
Besides my passion for soccer, I would like to pursue this learning opportunity in the USA and take advantage of this new knowledge to help people in my country and make it more prosperous once I finish my career and get back to Venezuela. You can count I will put all my best efforts and accomplish academic success. Finally, I think I can make a contribution not only as a soccer player but also as a student and exalt your prestigious name in both areas.
