Personal Statement
Soccer and me / Collegiate goals and aspirations.
When I was a little kid my parents enrolled me in a lot of sports such as Karate, Swimming, and Tennis, but I didn't like any of them until I stepped foot on a soccer pitch, ever since that moment when I was 6 years old we knew that I was meant to have a ball on my feet; I started playing at Harold Lozano´s Club in 2010 and very quickly I realized that we were more than a team, we were a family. I always had the goal of becoming a professional soccer player. I spent 8 years of my career in the club, and when I decided to leave, I left as a great leader, player, and person overall. I left in order to focus on school but after 1 year of not being in any competitive academy/club, I realized that I needed to go back and keep pursuing my dream. In 2020 I was going to join the academy of my favorite club, Deportivo Cali but covid came and I wasn't able to join the club until 2021, now I'm a senior in high school and I'm close to becoming a young adult so I had to start making tuff decisions that would be better for me long term and that's why I chose to follow the student-athlete route, It was very difficult because this path is almost unknown here in Colombia so I had to do my own research and find ways of starting my recruiting process. I'm working very hard on being recruited by a program that competes at the highest level and has the major I'm interested in, supposedly that would be a D1 program but I've been very open to hear every offer I get.
Why should coaches take a chance on me?
As a player I have a lot of experience, I'm used to competing against older and the highest level competition, I'm a great leader and teammate, but what really makes me different from other recruits is that I really strive for greatness, I'm very ambitious and I know that there's nothing in life that comes for free, everything takes sacrifice and hard work and I am a hard worker, when I set goals and projects I don't stop working until I achieve what I want; also I don't know how it is for a player in the US, but me living in Colombia, having the opportunity to have an education and a scholarship in a country that can set me up to provide for my family in the future really drives me and motivates me to give 110% of what I have, so wherever I go Coaches and teammates can be sure that I will be giving everything to win.
Academics
As a student, I've always had good grades while having to train almost every day, so being a student-athlete won't be a problem for me, I am very responsible with my assignments and homework and I learn very easily.
Some of the areas in which I excel are English, Computer Science, Social and political studies, Physical education, and Language Studies(Spanish).
One of my bigger achievements academic wise is The ACODESI national literary talent contest, which I won in 2019 with my micro-story "El Libro"
