- 2023 U17 Highlights
Personal Statement
I have played in a Professional Football academy from age 10-16 at Portsmouth Football club in England and represent my County (State in US terms) and made last 60 at National Trials (I still have opportunity to make the team next year as I am in first year). My strengths lie, in my ability to dictate and control games by screening and breaking up play from deeper positions but also being able to spot a through ball and create goal scoring chances for the team. I get more pleasure from the team winning rather than individual honours. There is no better feeling than a tight knit team who work for each other and push each other on to more improvement and success. This is why I love playing team sports.
I am extremely competitive and enjoy getting better each day in all aspects of life, both academically and from a sporting perspective.
My goal is to be the best version of myself possible, working hard every day to improve and look forward to seeing what I can achieve both in Soccer and once my playing career ends.
Here is a statement from Jamie Taylor (Winchester FC Under 18 and Under 23 Coach and working for Chelsea Football Club).
"I have had the pleasure of coaching and managing Luke at both U18's and U23's level for Winchester City Football Club. Over the past 9 month he has been fantastic to work with. He is a great player to coach due to his great attitude both on and off the pitch which combined with his competitive nature and desire to win in both training and match days results in him being a driven individual who can be relied upon beyond a game. He also sets and demands high standards in training, setting an example to those around him.
He further demonstrates and has built his leadership qualities and skills when he was made captain for the U18's since the start of the pre-season. This follows on from his previous experience of being made captain of the u18's within 2 months of being with the club and he has been selected and started for the u23's further highlighting the current ability Luke has at such a young age.
His all round football skill is also a crucial part of his talent. His on pitch intelligence, game understanding and versatility has allowed him to be played in different positions. This includes in midfield as a single or double pivot which works well with his great technical ability and range of passing, he is good in the air, and aggressive in the tackle to break up play which adds to his all round game. He can also be deployed in more advances roles and will be comfortable in these positions.
Luke is always willing to learn and shows a clear want to develop and improve on his current ability and understanding of the game under his own motivation. This is evident when he is in and round the U23's environment listening and learning from the more experienced players.
It is without hesitation that I write this recommendation letter. If you require further information, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Jamie Taylor - Chelsea FC
