Personal Statement
Growing up with a single mother, I have always looked to my mum as a source of strength. Someone who taught me to never give up and strive to be the best I could possibly be in everything I did, whether that was on or off the pitch. I was never the most naturally gifted player, but I never let that stop me, going from barely playing organised football in primary school, to captaining and winning titles with my school team in secondary school. I am a multi-sport athlete, representing my country in basketball, and running track (100m and 200m), giving me more athleticism and ability to transfer skills learned from different sports
Recently, I moved away from Uganda, where I was born and had spent my entire life, to England, to be with my extended family, going to school and playing football. This experience has been hard, having to adapt and work in order to be at the standard required to play competitively here, whilst being in a foreign environment. But I believe that it has only helped me, making me resilient, and forced me to push myself beyond the level of work I was used
In the future, I would like to continue playing football at a respectable standard, whilst continuing my studies, possibly using my athletic ability to help me get there. I love reading, writing and analysing texts, and find myself drawn to study international relations, philosophy or politics at college. Outside of academics and sports, I play the guitar and bass.
