Personal Statement
“It doesn't matter how tall you are if you have heart and you're a competitor.” - P.J. Tucker. Now yes, I may not be the tallest or talented goalkeeper, but that has never stopped me from playing. I started playing as a goalkeeper only 3 years ago, and I have been working hard to become the best. It has already given me some success as I got moved up from an Under 14 age group, to an under-20 age group for my school playing in tournaments and matches every week. That has also been the case at my club, where I get full minutes and kept a good record last season of only conceding less than 10 goals in over 30 games. I believe in setting a good example for everyone on the team and I am a very competitive player, if my team challenges a decision, I’ll challenge with them and I will do whatever it takes to win. I aim to play soccer at the highest level through college and beyond for as long as possible. I have been playing soccer since I was young, and I hope to work in something sports-related after graduating from college. My love for soccer leads to much of my decision-making in life and my personality. What makes me different from other players is I have a never-give-up mindset on and off the pitch. I know that to play at a high level, not only do I have to be good athletically, but also do well in academics. I also need to contribute to the community and therefore I have from last school year started to teach young children with special needs soccer once a week after school with a group of friends as a community project. I hope I can continue with this even beyond college.
