Personal Statement
I'm an African American/Australian student athlete set to graduate in November 2023, and my ultimate goal is to become a professional soccer player. Right now, I'm focused on getting into a U.S. university where I can play soccer at a high level, while also getting a good education to develop my skills and future opportunities.
I live in a regional area of Australia and have loved playing soccer since the age of 6. I attended the best high school for soccer in my region with a Centre of Excellence for soccer. At age 15 I joined the Football Queensland Talent Support Program. This same year I won the Dennis Mills Youth Player of the Year award for my club and was the runner up for FNQ Football Queensland Youth Player of the year (for under 18s). At this point, I received a scholarship and moved more than 1000 miles from home to live in boarding school to develop further as a player. This was a big change for me; moving football clubs, schools, and away from my family, to complete my final two years of high school. I have thrived and met this challenge well.
In terms of my education, I'm interested in studying physical therapy or psychology, but I'm open to other courses that align with my goals. I want a strong academic foundation to support my future career in the sports industry after my soccer career, whether that involves coaching, sports psychology, physical therapy, or something else.
