Personal Statement

For as long as I can remember, I have upheld myself to the highest standards in everything I do. As a student, I chose to go to stronger schools, and am consistently in the top percentile of my grades academically. From a social standpoint, I am respectful and friendly with everyone, making sure that I am well respected by all. And in sports, I've always competed at the highest levels I could in all sports.

I am currently a multi-sport athlete, playing both soccer and hockey at the highest levels I can, (based on the school programs I have chosen). In all sports and all teams, I am an important contributor to the team’s success, playing goalie in ice hockey and mid-fielder in soccer. I am always a reference for the coaches because of my work ethic, in both practices and games, and respect for all stakeholders (teammates, coaches, opponents, referees), and that's why I am always looked upon in a leadership role, either captain of my teams, mvp, or part of the leadership groups.

My passions are science and maths, from an academic standpoint, and soccer for everything else around school. I follow global soccer leagues, teams and players, I play soccer games, I coach youth soccer in my hometown, and most of all, I love playing soccer. If I'm not at school, I'm probably on a soccer field.

I have come to a point in my life where I will have to choose a sport and the choice will be easy for me, it will be soccer. I see the NCAA as the best path for me to balance my time and efforts into my passion and obligations (soccer and school). It is also the best path for me to achieve my goal, of one day playing professional soccer.

By choosing me to be part of your team, you will have a great athlete, a passionate soccer player, an important leader, an excellent student, a driven human being, and a great teammate.

Thank you for your consideration,

Thomas Cornellier
