Personal Statement
Hello my name is Eric Chirwa. I am a Malawian athlete. I’ve had interest in many sports since I was a child. My first passion towards sports was my love for swimming. I managed to consistently obtain gold and silver medals in every race that i participated in. I then got introduced to soccer which changed my whole life.
Soccer has become a huge part of me these past years. I have always dreamt that I’d become a footballer one day. I have always promised my father that one day i’ll make him proud and play outside Africa. Malawi has a lot of different talents but people don’t always get the opportunity to go out side of the country and showcase their skills. Therefore, I want to become one of the first players here in Malawi to become a pro-footballer. Every goal has different steps and I think getting into a college in the USA would have a huge impact for my football career and my education.
My talent in soccer never just came overnight. Soccer has had me doing early morning runs and has made me train every evening. I always made the team in every high school that I went to. This gave me the chance to learn how to play with different team mates and learn from different coaches. Soccer isn’t just a sport for me, it has become my life. As such getting into a university in the US will be that step that will get me closer to achieving my goals.
