Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Asier Jaio. I am aspiring to become a professional soccer player in the United States and the first large step is finding the University that could help me achieve this goal. I am a hard-working individual with a drive for success and thirst for knowledge and a desire to conquer the soccer field.
With that in mind, I am seeking out all opportunities to assist me in showing that I am a worthy investment for any university, and I believe an ideal candidate for a scholarship that would help me achieve my goals in soccer as well as my education.
A little background on me, I was born and live in Panama. While growing up in Panama, I mainly concentrated on my schooling for my early years, however, was introduced to competitive soccer at age 13 and it quickly became a very important part of my life. I found that I excelled at the sport and quickly climbed the ranks of the best players in in my school’s team and in the top club league of Panama. I was also fortunate to be able to play for the 2023 Real Madrid summer camp, where I further developed my skills on the field.
When not studying for my academics, you can find me intensely training or pursuing some type of new knowledge to enhance my abilities every chance I can get. As soccer is a very competitive sport in Latin American countries, I have devoted a large part of life to training and currently train 4 days during the week after school and then play my club games on Saturdays and school games on Sundays and I enjoy every minute of it. I truly have a big love for the sport. I find that I am a competitive person, and this assists me with pushing myself to do the best I can.
On the field speed and strength have been my main attributes as I have always found myself to be the fastest or strongest of the groups with who I play with or against. I’m hard working on and off the pitch. I do my best to make sure to give my education its time and believe that can be seen by my school grade average of 92/100 in all subjects. I pride myself on being able to be an exemplary student and athlete and I am proud to hold in high regard the title of Student Athlete, and strive to help define what that means.
