Personal Statement
My name is Niyomwungeri Bruce, a 19year old student-athlete graduate from Kigali Christian High school Kigali-Rwanda. During high school, I studied STEM: focusing specifically on computer science, mathematics, and physics subjects. I want to study Computer science in college and a minor in Management Information systems (MIS). Being a STEM student and athlete was challenging, but I thank God I managed both and excelled in both.
Playing soccer has always been a dream of mine since my early childhood. I was a student-athlete during primary and secondary school, attended regular team practices, and attended basic training offered to senior high school students to become a soccer player. I managed to win different trophies for both my team and personal trophies such as 2x top scorer(2018&2019), 2019 athlete of the year award... I focused on doing well as a student-athlete, excelling both as a soccer player, winning trophies for my school, and keeping up with good grades. I dream of getting college admission at a great school and continuing to play soccer. I am also heavily involved in extracurricular activities such as photography, videography, and video editing.
I come from a family that has not had luck with higher education. I believe that I can change that history about my family. I want to attend University in the US because I believe in the American dream. I have great dreams for myself, my family, and my country. I want to be a role model to my young cousins, nephews, and nieces. I want them to grow up looking forward to doing well in school to attend higher education and prepare a brighter future for themselves. I want to go to college, do well in school, and as an athlete, get a great job to acquire professional industry experience and start my entrepreneurial journey to invest in the people of Rwanda. I want to become financially stable to afford to pay for education for kids from poor families to do well with their lives and help their families too!
I will be a great addition to any college's soccer team because I bring diversity to your team. I come from another side of the world where everything is completely different from how things are done in the American culture. Research has proven that diverse teams function way better than when they are not. I have experience as a team Leader. I am ready to take on the responsibility for my new team if given the opportunity.
