Personal Statement
My name is Obed Yila and I'm a Nigerian aspiring to play soccer on a college level. I've been playing soccer ever I've been able to run and kick a ball. I was borne and lived in Nigeria for 4 years and then later moved to Thailand proceeded on to many other countries, yet football connects me to my nationality and I'm very passionate and patriotic.
Overall I am an athletic and hardworking person who loves sports. I've played sports such as Volleyball, Rugby, and Track. Throughout I have gained many experiences and has made me really versatile and willing to learn. Although I would not describe myself as a fast player, I have lots of stamina and I would consider myself a fight willing to do whatever it takes. I adore the analytical aspects of soccer and it has made me a very technical team-player.
My first major time as a soccer player was in 8th grade, in Kenya. I was made the A team in Rosslyn Academy it was a great learning experience. I play preferably as a left-back and central defensive midfielder but I am comfortable playing in attack sometimes.
Currently, I live in Spain and I don't actually play soccer 11 but instead Football sala or better known as futsal. I play for my town's team which is Carrmarma. I wanted to play indoor football because it was a good opportunity for me to try something new and be quicker on my feet. My experiences enabled me to be more versatile, faster but also build chemistry with whoever I may play with. From my time playing football and becoming a better player I made my decision that I would love to play football in college and on a more competitive level.
I love to challenge myself and I willing to put in the hard work to get the results. As I graduate and go on to college I want to make my parents proud and make use of every opportunity given to me. I am definitely not a perfect student and I don't have the best GPA but I continue to dream big and step out of my comfort zone.
My dream is to play soccer on a collegiate level and represent my future college, but as for now, I will work towards graduating and doing the best to see my current team win.
