Personal Statement
Being from Chester in the North of England, from the day I could walk a football has never left my feet. I live breath and dream the beautiful game and the highs and lows that come with it.
My journey stared playing football for my local team Hawarden Rangers and soared to the highest level of academy football in England by the age of 10, signing my first contract with Liverpool FC Academy and spending the next four incredible years being coached and nurtured by on of the best clubs in the world. During my younger years of football I reached the highest level of regional and national football and played all over Europe with Liverpool playing teams like Real Madrid and Ajax academy. At the age of 15 my world tore apart as I began to fall out of love with game that gave me everything. Despite being offered another 2 year contract at Liverpool I decided to take a break from high level football as things became too much and I needed time to focus on other things in life. This was a decision that took great maturity at the time and one which I will never truly know if it was the right one for me. However, the story continued as taking time away made me realise how much football played a vital part of my life and how much I loved the feeling of the game. My dream of being a football had never died and was burning inside me again. During the next few years I was obsessed and driven to get back to the highest level and after trials back at Liverpool, and other clubs in the EFL I was desperate to gain a route back to the top. At this time and throughout Covid I was training over 4 hours a day on a personal mission to not give up but unfortunately the opportunity never came. I then decided to combine my academic studies with my football ability for the next 2 years, while still playing and captaining a team at a competitive level. I also became involved in refereeing and coaching football while still playing, which has opened my eyes to a different side of football. My hope is that with an opportunity to combine my studies and football in the US, I can excel and express my talent whilst adding a new chapter to my story.
As a student athlete, I would be determined and dedicated to succeed, not only on the pitch but also through my academics. My character is someone who is very hard working and tunnel visioned with high expectation of myself to succeed. I am very structured within my way of life and self motivated while being a great leader and role model. I would consider myself someone who will do anything to win and I love learning new things while adapting to new ideas and information.
My collegiate goals are vast, both as an individual and part of a team. I truly believe being successful on the pitch starts off the pitch with minor details. I will add great experience and will be a great addition to a collegiate team. As an attacking midfielder my strengths are being creative, scoring and assisting and working hard on and off the ball for 90 minutes. My football brain on the pitch makes me unique and my maturity instills a cool head under pressure. I look to improve the players around me and set the standard for any squad I play in.
While succeeding on the pitch I would love to study a Sports degree (major) as this is a career I am passionate about and believe I can achieve big things in.
I hope this has given you a better insight into me as a person and the highs and lows of my story. From the highs of playing at Anfield to the lows of training solo. I have learnt a lot along the way, which makes me the man I am today. What I can offer a college coach is someone who will give everything in every training session and game and a willingness and eagerness to learn and be a part of achieving great things. I am a footballer who consistently puts in high level performances and delivers in big moments. I hope my football resume speaks for itself and the highlights video captures your eye.
I welcome the opportunity to speak personally with you about my football journey and the scholarship opportunities to come and play football for your college in the US for the start of the 2024 college season.
