Personal Statement
My name is Deron Ekhogie and I am a dedicated soccer player from London (United Kingdom).
Soccer has been a significant part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a community where the sport is not just a pastime but a passion, I found myself drawn to the field at a young age. The thrill of scoring a goal, the camaraderie of teammates, and the discipline required to improve my skills have all shaped my character and ambitions. I’ve always played as a striker and from young being relied on to score a goal or have a significant impact on the pitch.
As I progressed through various levels of play, I learned the importance of teamwork and communication on the field. Each match taught me valuable lessons about resilience and strategy. There has been numerous times where my team may have been losing however I have been able to regroup my team and encourage them to understand that the game is not done until the final whistle is blown and we must keep pushing until then which I believe is very key as a soccer player being able to communicate to your teammates and also being a leader on the pitch.
Beyond the physical aspects of the game, soccer has also instilled in me a strong sense of discipline and commitment. Balancing rigorous training schedules with academic responsibilities has taught me time management and prioritisation. I ensure that I go to the gym at least 4 times a week and maintain a healthy lifestyle by having a balanced diet and exercising as often as possible which includes training with a ball to improve my technical ability in order to stay on top of my game and keep up with the level that I would want to be playing at. I am eager to bring this same level of dedication to my collegiate soccer career, where I hope to contribute to a team that values hard work and sportsmanship. My goal is to not only excel as an athlete but also to inspire others through my passion for the game. I am excited about the opportunity to further develop my skills and compete at a higher level while pursuing my academic aspirations.
