Personal Statement

Im a dedicated, hardworking footballer who shows their strong passion for the game every time I step onto the pitch and in training. Im a ball playing centre back with a great vision and a high footballing IQ . I utilise my height and physical presence during the game to bully attackers and keep a tight and organised defensive line whilst consistently being vocal and a strong leader on the field. I strive to achieve my goals in gaining a major in Electrical Engineering as well as competing at a high level of football. Im someone who constantly wants to improve and gives absolutely everything on and off the field for my teammates. I will always go that extra mile to achieve the goals I set myself.

Words from Coach Bucher - "His abundance of football IQ is part of the reason that he is able to be an amazing leader. Max can motivate a team better than anyone and before big games and during half times, he likes to have team talks to give all players motivation and belief. He exudes confidence and this rubs off on the whole team. Therefore, he is not only the captain but the leader of the team. During the B team training, Max instills his own drills on the players and pauses periodically to help show the players what to do. He is well respected in QMFC as a result of his brilliant football IQ and thus able to coach a team of peers his own age. Some of those games coincide with our games but he still chooses their lineups and talks to them pre and post game to help them prepare. In those games, aside from the 90 minutes of playing time, Max is ever-present. For these reasons, Micklewright is everything you could ask for in a football and more, on and off the pitch. "
