Personal Statement
Soccer has always been at the centre of my life, from playing for my local club from the age of 5, to playing for Derby County and Nottingham Forest's academy sides, to where I am today, playing for my semi-pro side Coalville Town's u18 and u21 teams. Ever since I first started playing I have always had the dream to one day make it as a professional, even through the hard times I have experienced on the journey thus far; most notably getting released from these academies ,due to a lack of physical presence at a young age.
I am a skilled technical player with a strong understanding of the game, and always try to maintain an encouraging mentality throughout games, no matter the outcome. I always look for ways to improve, whether that be asking coaches for any developments they noticed my game may need, or studying other players in my position, and how they effectively impact the game. I also am very strongly committed to putting work in beyond just matches and training sessions, to allow myself to perform to my best ability every time I step onto the pitch.
This work ethic can be seen in my academic achievements where I have achieved high grades in the GCSE that made me an academic scholar in my school. This position helps me to develop my leadership skills too, as I mentor a younger scholar through projects. I also help to coach a younger soccer team under one of my former coaches, as I look to complete the second level of the FA's Coaching badges.
I aim to attend a college in the US that not only allows me to continue to develop both academically and in my soccer ability, something not readily available in the UK. I strive to be able to play at the highest standard of soccer available to me at a school that pushes me to be the best version of myself possible.
