Personal Statement
Soccer, track, and padel have scuplted my values, experiences and thus my way of thinking on and off the field. By participating in said activities, my mentality and approach to sports has constantly evolved, allowing me to adapt to new scenarios and overcome new challenges.
Team sports demand resilience, determination, acountability and a blend of rationality and creativity to achieve optimal performance and desired outcomes individually and at the level of the entire team. At the core of creativity and rationality lies strategic thinking, wich through my eyes is the process of analyzing and evaluating complex situations to formulate effective plans and decisions. Strategic thinking is a crucial component of being succesfull in a team environment, where one has to focus on their individual gaame and role while contributing to the team aand helping others be their best versions on and off the playing field.
In terms of soccer, my main sport, adopting stratefic thinking has helped me develop positive relationships with fellow teamates, coaches and staff in club and highschool soccer internationally, both in Mexico and Spain where I have played. Through these positive relationships I have pushed others to be their best selves, while simultaenously being pushed towards fulfilling my maximum athletic and personal potential.
For the past two consecutive seasons in junior varsity and varsity, my teamates, coaches, team staff and sports faculty at the American School of Madrid have voted me the team's most valuable player. When reflecting upon these awards, I atribute my acomplishments to my ability to harbour a sense of sportsmanship and brotherhood in the locker rooms and on the field, which incentivizes the team to strive for sucess in every training, meeting and match while learning from defeats and challenges.
With these foundations, I look forward to form part of a competitive college soccer team where I can continue to grow and contribute my skills, dedication and strategic thinking.
