Personal Statement

I'm Daniel Alexander Diaz and I am an American born and raised in Spain in a completely international environment.   My domicile is in Huntersville, N.C. although I am now finishing my high school in Madrid before returning to N.C.   I´m a senior in one of Madrid`s most challenging schools (Lycee Francais de Madrid).  All courses are held in Spanish and/or French. This allows me to be fluent in both languages.  I also speak English and basic German.  

I've been competing in soccer since I was 4 in Spain's top level leagues against teams considered amongst the best academies in Europe. Currently play at Sporting Hortaleza in Juvenil Autonómica (players are born on 1997, 1998 and 1999) against, among others,  the Real Madrid academy.  Season lasts from 13 september to may 22 with over 32 games. Training sessions are four days a week for 2 hours.

I've played in international tournaments against academy teams of Manchester City, FC Barcelona, Dinamo Moscow, Zenith San Petersburg, Juventus Turin, Castelllane of Marseille, Oporto FC and Milan FC.  In 2011, I was selected by Real Madrid academy for pre-season and sent finally to affiliate Canillas FC to play on the 1998 team as a 1999 player. The Puerto Rico U17 NT scout has also contacted me but I have not been summoned yet. 

I'm a perfect fit for teams that believe in "building from the back".    I'm a technical player who uses both feet, prefers one touch play, tactically gifted and extremely committed to the sport, my team, and my colors.  Due to my polyvalance, coaches in Madrid play me as a box to box midfielder, outside back (mainly right but also on the left) and lately as left winger.   In France (Girondins de Bordeaux camp) and Barcelona (Fundación Marcet camp)  I have played as control midfielder to organize defense and initiate play from the back.  Modríc, Xavi, Thiago Alcantara, Iniesta and Xabi Alonso are who I attempt to emulate in my play.

My characteristics will be a great attribute to any team and I am eager to prove my worth. I am very coachable, believe in hard work and a a "team first" player. 

I also run 10 k's  and am member of the Madrid athletics team AD Sprint.  My latest time in 10 km was 40 min 44 sec..
