Personal Statement
When I was 11 years old, I was offered a scholarship to attend school in England and play with one of the best semi-professional soccer academies in the country. Playing against opponents in different countries such as England, Spain, Italy, and China has defined me as a player I am today. I have been developing among elite coaches and also playing against several professional teams, most notably Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City, Norwich City, Sheffield United, and Lugo.
With the experience I have gained from my time playing internationally, I feel that I have become a very well rounded and intelligent player. During my time in England I have been the vice captain for the football academy in the 2021-2022 school year and also captained my U14, U15, U16 and U17 teams. Before I went to England, I also was captain of my travel club (Premier AC) U9 through U13 team. I like to think I bring a drive to the team that helps us win games. Many of my coaches have commented on how I can often determine the tone/pace of the game and how our team plays. My coaches also have praised me for my leadership on and off the field and how it sets a good example.
For the future, I am realistic about the opportunities to play professionally; which is why I am also working hard academically. I have been recognized as the top student in my class in the past few years. Most recently, I was recognized as the top student-athlete at my school in 2021 and also was awarded the Paul Kitchener Award in 2021 and the Principal's Fellowship Award in 2022 for all around excellence for my academic, athletic, and charity work. Finally, I'm looking for a more selective college to pursue a degree in engineering, computer science, or physics.
