Personal Statement
For a brief introduction Sir, my full name is Sihle Mazibuko and I’m proudly from South Africa from a large poverty stricken township called Soweto. I’m a huge soccer enthusiast and magnificent player too. I’m 19 years of age and currently completing my final year in AS Level Cambridge curriculum. After graduation I aspire to further my studies and pursue a Masters in Computer Science studies. I’m from a single parent home meaning I only live with my mom and three siblings, we are very excited about this huge opportunity and we’ve reached cohesive agreement to express interest in this offer and pursue it, as long as it’s affordable because I’m financially dependent on her.
The reason I wish to pursue my aspirations in the America, its due to the radical increase in the competitiveness of sports in the United States of America which is something I wish to be part of because it may help me improve my skills and self actualize. Furthermore America has one of the best colleges in the world that are multi specialized in faculties that are offered.
Apart from that, I wish to go out my comfort zone and explore different cultures that America has to offer while remaining focused on my studies and soccer career.
I’m considered as a generational talent soccer player as I’m born into a family that’s dominated by talented soccer players. I’m a very diverse player who can play with both feet although I’m more of a left footed soccer player who can easily pick a pass and very enthusiastic about taking defenders on, with breathtaking skill moves.
Since I can play with both feet, I can play left wing and right wing but I also have good endurance, therefore I can play holding and attacking center. I’m very good on my feet with very good balance and I don’t easily fall to a hard tackle and I’ve never picked up a injury.
I’ve collected full color scrolls in Primary School for Grade 6 and 7 in 2013 & 2014. However during my transition to high school I went to a school that was more academic and less focused on sports so there was a time I had stopped playing for a club in 2016 and played more on the streets (street football) for a while. Then in 2018 I participated in some local tournaments like the Alfred Maimane Phiri Games (And ended up reaching the final with Soweto All Star) and The Walter Sisulu Discovery (With Spartans Sports Academy) tournament which are one of the well known tournaments in the East Rand and Soweto which you’ve seen in the footage I uploaded and there’s more footage which I wouldn’t sharing with you Sir.
I strongly believe that I can offer a very authentic style of play on the pitch, high composure on the ball and with good reading of the game, I’m very sure it will leave my future coaches impressed and I’m a very good team player as soccer is a team sport and I do have adequate pitch experience as my coaches have referenced.
Aside from soccer, I’m a very disciplined and respectful young man, I know my boundaries between my peers and adults and I take every opportunity that’s been given to me very seriously and with gratitude . I’m also academic driven meaning I also prioritize my books and schoolwork before anything else (unless it’s soccer). I’m a very shy introverted person meaning I prefer staying indoors and reading a book, studying and drawing rather than going out to a party. Although I’m an introvert, I have exceptional social skills. I also tutor my peers Mathematics in afternoon classes and outside of school whenever they need help as I’m always willing to offer a hand to those in need.
