Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Kidus Paulos, I am a 2021 graduate who is an American citizen living in Nairobi, Kenya. I have deep love for the game of football and play as a center midfielder on my team. I have huge dreams as I have always been told to “aim for the moon because if you miss, you will still land among the stars”. I want to attend an academically rigorous and athletically competitive college program as I love to challenge myself and I truly believe that I can succeed at the highest level wherever I go. I am a great candidate for teams because I am a diligent individual on the pitch and in the classroom. For example, in my junior year, I turned every single one of my assignments in on time, never missing out on any deadlines and on the football field, I played every single minute of every game as I was the industrious midfielder who worked tirelessly to make sure that my team came away with the victory. What makes me different from other recruits is that I have the drive and belief that I will make it to the highest level of football. Some college athletes are satisfied with playing at the collegiate level but I want to push and try to make it to the professional level, and I want to go to a college program that will further develop my skills so that my dreams and aspirations can become a reality. A huge quality of mine is my leadership skills as I am a motivator and “coach” on the field as I communicate effectively with my teammates in order for the team to play fluidly and I encourage all the players around me when things don’t go our way. Another thing that separates me from other recruits is my work ethic. Other recruits might be stronger, faster, or even better technical players than me but there is one thing I can guarantee and that is I will always outwork them either on the pitch, in the classroom, or in the gym. As a devout Christian, I give my 100% in everything I do and it has helped me become the football player I am today. I hope you are interested in the person and football player that I am because I am ready to play for the college program that is devoted and committed to me.
