Personal Statement
Hi my name is Cooper Burrows, I was born on the 21st of May 2003 and I am a outside midfielder currently for my junior u19s team in Scotland. My goal is to come to America and play the highest standard of football there is to try and better myself as a player and to the best of my ability against players at the highest level and then to move onto professional football. Going to play football in America will take me completely out of my comfort zone and let me take on new challenges in different countries away from everything I know.
My love for football started from as young as I can remember, whenever I seen a football i would start running about kicking the ball and would watch the football on the television with my Dad. As soon as I was in primary school, I looked forward to being able to go up to the football pitch every lunchtime and play against kids my age and even the older boys in school. Ever since I can remember I have been super competitive never wanting to lose a football game, even in training, winning is always my mentality.
The first team I joined was Cumbernauld Colts where I would train at the professional stadium for Clyde Football Club. Training was very intense and the team was very competitive and eager to win all competitions we entered, As we would play in the Scottish cup against all the best junior teams in Scotland. While playing for this team we entered two competitions in Spain, Barcelona, we would play against teams from all over the world showing us the competition we would be up against if any of us were to become professional which we all thoroughly enjoyed. During my time playing with Cumbernauld Colts I was asked several times by the amateur teams coach to fill out a vacancy in their team. I then moved to Cumbernauld United where I am playing as of today and during my short time playing for them we have won the league cup for the central A league.
I am currently playing as an outside midfielder, I can say my main attributes consist of my pace, dribbling and my set pieces. My close touch dribbling allows me to isolate the opposing teams fullback in a 1 v 1 and I can then use my pace to blitz past them and attack the box or I can pick out a teammate in the box to set for an assist. I put crosses and wide free-kicks into the most dangerous positions for defenders and also where the goalkeeper feels like he is not able to come and collect the ball which gives my teammates the best chance at getting a touch on the ball and putting it in the back of the net. Whenever I get some free time I am always down at the training field trying to master my techniques as I like to be some what of a perfectionist when it comes to my football.
I have considered the thought of a position change to a right full back as I feel the amount of time and space i can get can really suit my game as my vision is close to spotless, I can pick out a switch to my opposing fullback or even a full pass into the left winger giving them space to run into or leaving them in a 1 v 1 against the fullback. In addition as soon as I get the ball to my feet I am always looking forward and eager to be on the front foot which is positive in my play but I can also read the game to know that if I cant go forward I will willingly turn back and recycle the ball for the benefit of my team.
Moving forward It would benefit me getting back into the classroom and being able to learn how to work in a different environment, I am intrigued as to how teachers teach lessons in comparison to where I am from. In class I am a hardworking individual that can work really well on my lonesome or just as well in a team. My work is always done to the highest of the standards required and I will thoroughly proof read everything I do before submitting, my work is always finished by the deadline as I am very well organised.
