Personal Statement
My name is Ben Angus, I live in Durham, UK. I am a hardworking conscientious student currently studying a two year course at Newcastle College in BTEC Extended National Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development with a Merit/Distinction profile. Prior to attending College, I left secondary school in summer 2022 with 9 GCSEs.
I am a friendly, outgoing and ambitious person, my goals are to always give 100% both on and off the pitch to achieve the best result possible both academically and athletically. To excel athletically and academically I have had to develop excellent organisational skills and time management, I am always keen to learn new things and can adapt to new situations and surroundings very well.
I have played football since I was 4 years old when I attended group training sessions, going on to play for a team as soon as I was able to aged 6 playing for the under 7s. I have always played in the highest division for my age group. When playing for U10s we attended an international tournament in Holland finishing 4th place out of over 100 teams. Whilst playing for Wrekenton Nou Camp for four years we were league winners, cup winners and also won all tournaments we attended every season. I then moved to Wallsend Boy club a well renowned club in the North East of England, we were league winners 3 years in a row, last season we were undefeated.
Currently I still play at Wallsend Boys Club, on a Saturday for their Adult team in the Northern Alliance League and also on a Sunday for the U21’s in the Pin Point League, we are top of both leagues.
At Newcastle College I play for the first team, we were promoted last season to the National Football Youth League North East Championship.
On a weekend around soccer games and also in school holidays, I help coach soccer sessions for young children at Dillon Morse 1 to 1 Football coaching and I also take part in 1 to 1 sessions myself with Dillon to constantly work on my technique, skills and fitness.
Relating to academic studies, at college I have an excellent attendance record and have studied units in Sports Coaching, psychology, nutrition and many other areas. Moving forward I am interested in criminology, forensics etc.
