Personal Statement
I am a determined, self-disciplined individual who has dreamed of becoming a professional Goalkeeper since the age of 3. For the past 14 years, I worked very hard towards my goals and now am looking forward to chase my dream at a US University.
I started playing soccer at the age to 4 for a private academy, from where I moved by the age of 10 and joined Olympiakos Nicosia academy. During that early period, we finished 2nd in the competitive U13-U15 championship for two years in a row. Around the same time, we have participated in the biggest local tournament called “Ayia Napa Development Tournament” which we won 3 years in row (2014, 2015, 2016) while I was named the best Goalkeeper of the tournament in all those years.
At the age of 14I was called by the U14 National team of Cyprus. Since then I am a constant member or the National team, currently playing with U19, being the youngest player of the team. I have participated in every single National game for the past 4 years, home and abroad. In October 2018, the Euro qualification round took place, were we faced countries such as Scotland and Switzerland. I managed to be the first choice goalkeeper in all the games in that competition. Some other teams that I featured up against at U19 level are Turkey, Austria as well as Romania. This has given me the chance to train with the best players and coaches in Cyprus as well as and gain unforgettable memories and experiences from travelling often.
For 2 years now, I have been training with the main squad of Olympiakos Nicosia (professional first division club), which indeed has given me the chance to train and play with much older, more experienced players that urged me to work even harder as a result improving my skills as well as my physical strength. The fact that I graduated with a GPA of 3.8 and a 1370 SAT was a result of great effort, hard work and commitment in both my academic life as well as my athletic life.
I have worked hard in the past years and I am willing to work harder to achieve my dreams and at the same time obtain a high standard of education from a US university. I am very motivated and I am well aware of what are the challenges ahead of me and commitments required to chase my dream.
