Personal Statement
My name is Morgan Reah, and I am a digital marketer and soccer player. I’m currently playing Men’s Soccer in the Gainsborough Division for East Markham I decided to take this challenge to learn to use my body improving my hold up play and improve general strength as the opposition are much physically bigger due to their age, due to this I don’t believe you will find another player with both my technical ability and physical presence. I have played soccer since I was aged 5 and it very quickly became the biggest factor of my life, I quickly became accustomed to winning with my team going 4 years unbeaten yet I learned as I got older that expecting to win every game was simply not realistic as I moved to a newly formed youth system for Bideford AFC with the project of being the best in the county this process took time and in this period I matured both as a person and a player and learnt the more advanced concepts of soccer. I also played for Professional side Exeter City FC alongside this, playing for both sides prepared me for the hectic training schedule I would experience a few years later while also refining my natural talents. I remained with Exeter and Bideford with until I was 14 winning both Players Player and Managers Player awards in my unexpected final season at Bideford. The change was caused by my family moving to Nottinghamshire this lead to me having to force my way into a new team This shows my grit and determination to achieve my goals as I was not accepted by all members of the team and suffered taunting due to my southern accent, I faced this adversity and overcame it through sheer hard work I played hard enough to get myself to progress to Mansfield AFC winning the golden boot and pushing the team up the table. Unlike most people in soccer my success and progression isn't due to who my family knows and there ties it is all down to my hard work and not just settling for being talented and getting by but refining myself In the hope that I will one day be great. I have played at the highest level for around 12 years now representing both the counties I have lived in. This not only shows my talent but also my ability to adapt to new environments as due to my family moving so frequently. These skill’s will be crucial as I will be coming into a new culture and lifestyle. My ability to adapt will give me an advantage over other candidates who will likely be affected by such a huge change. Furthermore, I will not just bring a never give up attitude to athletic situations but also academic as I believe them to be equally important in furthering my life opportunities and I will take neither for granted. I have dreamed of playing soccer since I was a child, while I'm sure you hear that all the time, most people say it without the true conviction to do what it takes to achieve that goal. I'm willing to leave my home and travel halfway across the world for even the slightest opportunity of achieving this dream if you give me this opportunity no one will work harder or be more committed to achieving any goal set before them. My collegiate goal is to leave with a degree and further knowledge of a new culture and lifestyle and to hopefully have found a new place to call home. I am aware there are no guarantees in life but I’ll give it my all to achieve my "American Dream" of one day becoming a professional soccer player; however the opportunity presents itself I will snatch it with both hands...
Yours Sincerely,
Morgan Reah
