Personal Statement
As an international athlete, my goal has always been to play professional soccer, improve my skills, and play in a team outside my birth country. I am always striving for excellence inside my team. I feel ready to take my soccer skills to a college level, where I know both soccer and academics will be the priority. I had the opportunity to win the state championship of Central Panama and was awarded best midfielder in the tournament. The best sports teams are made up of players who work together and are willing to make sacrifices, and I’m 100% willing to make the sacrifice and put my effort into making my team, the winner. I am different from other recruits because of my personality, athletism and academic achievements.
First, I’m a very positive person. I’m always smiling and looking for the best in others. I feel that both of these qualities are extremely important when playing soccer. Always being positive and having a good attitude in the field and out of the field are key to achieving great results. I am always cheering the team and supporting them. I think this makes the difference between a united team and a non-united team. I am calm, yet perseverant. At ease yet focused. Athletically, I’m very strong. I try to stay in shape and eat well. I practice hard no matter how tired I am and I am always pushing my limits because I am demanding with myself. Sports and extracurricular activities have never affected my academic performance. I strive for balance and am able to manage my time between homework, practice, and extracurriculars. Because of this, I have been part of the honor roll since high school.
