My childhood is filled with memories of my father’s achievements. After completing his MBA from overseas he travelled to different parts of the globe and found an opportunity to start up his own business in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This is where I spent the first chapter of my life where I learnt the importance of being tough and decisive from my father. Soon enough, the passion for business started to flow through my veins which led me to follow the footsteps of my father and decide to keep the business bloodline going. As the economy of Uzbekistan began to crash and their currency depreciated, foreigners decided to leave the country. That’s when we shifted to Pakistan and I began to wonder why the economic conditions affected my lifestyle.
I continued my studies in Pakistan where I completed my O level. I took up business, economics and ICT in my O Level to satisfy my curiosity regarding these subjects. The deeper I delved the more my hunger for knowledge grew. To satiate this hunger I decided to study these subjects further which is why I chose to study business and economics in A levels as well. During my stay in Pakistan I visited the rural areas and experienced the plight of the poor. This gave me a clearer picture of the situation of poverty in Pakistan which motivated me to start up my own business through which I could employ the poor by providing them a means to earn and do my part in aiding the economy of Pakistan. It was almost as if fate had decided that the business bloodline would continue.
Academics have been an important part of my life however my extracurricular activities have helped me mature as a person. I have done my part in gaining prestige for my school by participating in several events such as LGS MUN, LGS Games and representing my school in various events such as LUMS Olympiad. I have also been given the privilege to manage the sports society of LGS Defence as I am part of the student council, not only as the Soccer Team Captain but as the Sports President of LGS Defence. I started playing soccer 11 years ago and ever since then it has become an important aspect of my life. The first 4 years I played in a local club in Tashkent, Uzbekistan called Lokomotiv Tashkent and later on continued playing when I shifted to Pakistan. My love for this sport brought me to UK in 2015 to play for Elite Soccer Academy in Peterborough, England during which not only did I dream of professionally playing soccer on a foreign platform again, but after extensive research ignited an ambition to be able to do so in United States in particular due to soccer being a popular sport locally and the competitive opportunities offered both on a national and international level.
I have learnt about different cultures varying from the Pashtun tribes to the Punjabis as well as the Russians and the Uzbeks because of having travelled a lot. Encounters with people from different cultures and creeds contributed to my cultural curiosity and aided to my linguistic prowess in languages such as Pashto, Uzbek and Russian apart from English and Urdu. United States, with its cultural diversity and informal atmosphere of Universities would give me the perfect opportunity to indulge in a vast learning experience and would also provide me with the ability to expand my horizons and gain perspective in ways that would contribute both to my personal growth as well as my academic and professional life to come, which is why it is an ideal place to study and gain experience. Coming from a country like Pakistan which lacks in standing firm to the norms and laws of our country, learning from Americans who are known to diligently follow their laws and beliefs would be a life altering experience for me.
