Personal Statement
My name is Jack Haunch, I am a 17 year old international student from the UK. I have been playing soccer since the age of 6 where I have developed a passion for the game including skills such as determination, discipline, a hard-working ethos and motivation to strive for my aspirations.
I have a commitment to excelling, a desire to succeed and as a student-athlete I drive to improve my game as well as my academics in order to stand out.
I believe building strong relationships with my professors, coaches and teammates is key in my growth and development, preparing myself for a fulfilling career after college
I realize that to be accepted at a U.S. college, it is imperative to demonstrate dedication to academics, a strong work ethic and proficiency in managing my studies and sports showing my commitment to achieving success, both on and off the field
I'm excited to find a college that values my education and sporting activities, being confident that my dedication and character can contribute to the community and be part of a winning team.

As a committed player I have team training multiple times a week along with 2 matches, usually a Thursday and Saturday.
I am a quick outside back who can join the attack, providing width and distribution of the ball. Defensively I am good one on one against attackers, being able to win the ball confidently and counter the opposition. Out of possession I am a vocal player, commanding discipline within our teams positions in order to maintain focus.
Throughout training and matches I strive to improve, learn from my coaches, use my skills, abilities, and knowledge of the game to help my teammates.
Over the past 5 years, I have continued to progress my pace, ball control, skills, and physicality in order to be as competitive as possible.
To achieve this, I do additional training to enhance my fitness, speed and stamina through running which involves my athletics coach preparing a weekly schedule
In 2017, whilst still at Spalding United, we were selected to represent England in the Dana Cup, a huge international soccer tournament in Denmark, where we won our group and progressed to the quarter finals.
My experience includes playing for Peterborough United (The Posh) for a year in their youth shadow squad which was highly competitive in the Junior Premier League (JPL). Training once a week on Friday with specialist coaches followed by a game on Saturday against top sides such Cambridge and Kings Lynn.

Having a positive attitude and the ability to work well within a team, I have learned to be disciplined and organized which has seen a benefit for both my sports and academic classroom achievements.
I am always eager to learn new strategies and skills, listening to teachers, coaches and my parents. Respecting their advice and experience that they instil for my benefit for the future, augmenting my qualities that are an asset for the team I play for.
I understand that being fully committed to achieving my goals requires determination, perseverance and hard work in all aspects of my life.
Encouraging and being a positive influence for my teammates and coaches is my idea of earning respect and the way to make sure my teammates are always confident with me in the team.
I am very sociable, having fun is important to have a well-rounded personality, whilst still focusing on progressing my academics and sports aspirations.
When I'm not playing soccer, I like to play golf, go to the gym, whizz round the go-kart track and push myself on runs (3k to 10k). I also have a passion for playing the guitar and writing my own songs which have been played on the radio here in the UK.
I am also an avid traveller, which is something I have learned from my father, who has pushed me to broaden my horizons by travelling to different Countries, experience different cultures and to be confident in different surroundings.
My father is my mentor, encouraging me in everything that I do whether it be sports, music, travelling or social events. He is fully supportive of my desire to attend a college in the USA, influencing me to be able to stand up for myself, be confident, communicate effectively and be my own person.
My profile shows how I’ve been formed into the young man that I am today.
