Personal Statement
Some people have musical talent, while others have artistic talent. But playing competitive soccer is my talent. Soccer has been my biggest interest for as long as I can remember. I have known I'm a gifted soccer player since I was seven years old. I've gained knowledge about teamwork and effective communication. Soccer has improved my interpersonal skills and capacity to collaborate with others, but it has also given me a sense of leadership that has helped me succeed in my educational setting. Every game I play presents me with a fresh obstacle to overcome. I bring my competitive nature from soccer into the classroom environments.I'll get better the more I practice, and my hard effort will pay off when I win the game. I apply the adage "practice makes perfect" to my academic projects and presentations. I must complete my homework and regularly study in order to improve in English, Math, or any other topic because it is the practice I require and allows me to later show how diligently I studied by passing any exam. Soccer has been my inspiration to do better in school because I have to maintain a minimum GPA to play on the school's varsity squad, which I have done and even overpassed.
I've learned from playing soccer to never give up and to keep trying till I score! I've learned resilience through playing a sport where a victory depends on a lot of different variables. Even if I don't always win games or score goals, the ethics and good sportsmanship I have gained through playing soccer have taught me to never give up. Although my shot did not result in a goal, I have learned to take risks in this sport since striving for your goals and taking risks are what life is all about.
