Personal Statement
What makes me different?
I’m a 5’7 goalkeeper for my clubs, Makati FC from 2015-2018, and Great Oak Manor (GOM) FC from 2018-Present. My club coaches knew I was a starter for my High School varsity playing left back or right wing, but they believed I was best as a keeper. I am lucky to have travelled with my club teams to Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia as the only keeper, and I am very thankful for the trust and confidence my coaches have in me.
Last 2019, the Philippines had tryouts for the Asian Football Cup for U15. Coach Darren Hartmann, my GOM FC coach, brought a few boys who he knew had a chance to play for the country and I was one of them. Even though it was hard for both of us that I was not chosen to represent the Philippines, I was grateful for his support and in knowing that he believed in me.
Dec 2019, Coach Darren awarded me GOM U15’s Goalkeeper of the Year. Before giving me the award, he had these to say...
“I felt sad for this player when he didn’t make it to the National Team. I thought and I still believe that you’re National Team quality. And the fact that you kept your head up and you went on, you come with us to Borneo, you played so many games for us since then, is a real testament to this boy’s character.”
I hope I can find a university that is a perfect fit for me and a coach who can give me the same opportunity, trust and confidence as my coaches here in Manila.
I look forward to playing for you and your team!
