Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Alejandro Miguel. I am originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, but have been leaving in Rome, Italy from the age of TWO.
My parents are one from Puerto Rico (USA Citizen) and my father Italian. I am completely tri-lingual, even though my English and Spanish need to be used more and improved.
I am a little shy person, but inside I am a fighter. Everything I have proposed to do and learn have always been goals I have achieved. Soccer for me is not only a sport I play. It is a passion. Going for soccer training three/four times a week and playing a match on Sundays, are for me the completion of my person.
Soccer is a game where you have to also use the tactic and intelligence to build a game together with your team mates and win the match. Strategies should always be used on training and apply them on the field. Each adversary is different and the first ten minutes of the game, is for me essential, to understand the weakness and the prestige the other team might need and together with the coaches instructions, build in minutes our strategy to get to the points.
Never look at the ball, look forward and never stop on an action. Emotions are not good on a match, since it can influence on the whole team and let yourself go. I also believe that each match is important and different, and if my coach decides for me to be on the bench, it does not mean it is my failure, but it can be a strategy for our team.
A complete and healthy diet are important before training and before a match, to keep your body and metabolism in shape and with energy for the whole game. Participating to all the training sessions are not a way to be part of the first 11 playing the match on Sunday, but a way on learning every single day a new strategy, apply it and use it on any match. It is also to keep learning and keep the commitment you made with your team to win the championship. For me soccer is not playing a game on Sunday, but improving every day my ability to be a good soccer player for my team.
If I have the opportunity to go to the USA to study at any University that would want me as a student and part of their Soccer Team, as a sixteen year old boy, I can only say, that my dream will come true and that I would give all my energy and my soul to demonstrate that I would be essential for the University Soccer Team.
