Personal Statement
I have been playing football (soccer) since I was 7 years old. While every other player wanted to score, I fell in love with the challenge of being a goalie. As a goalkeeper, I have learned to keep fighting until the final whistle. Playing both locally and internationally (EAFF and AFC), I have experienced varied levels of football. It has taught me to be strong not only physically, but also mentally. I am always reminded that the final score is just one number. I have learned to appreciate the number of shots I manage to block, over the number of goals allowed; and every game is a new challenge.
I love to lead and inspire my teammates. Goalkeepers see the whole field and control the game. Especially when my team is losing, I feel that I am in the best position to keep them motivated. I would love to be able to continue playing football in college. Coming from a tiny island, it is always a dream to play in a larger setting. I have been fortunate enough to experience international tournaments as part of our National Team, going up against top FIFA-ranked countries. It's been an exciting journey so far, and I would love to continue it with a college that will embrace my abilities, passion, and drive. More importantly, I want to find the right college that will continue to challenge me both on and off the pitch.
