Personal Statement
As a current high school junior with an anticipated graduation in February 2025, I have set my sights on pursuing a collegiate soccer career that challenges me both athletically and academically. With dual citizenship (American and Korean), I have had the privilege of experiencing diverse educational backgrounds, having been born in the United States and raised in Korea for the majority of my schooling.
During my time in San Diego, I had the opportunity to study at a US school for two years, which enhanced my English proficiency and enabled effective communication in both academic and social settings. I am committed to continually improving my language skills to ensure seamless integration within the college team.
I am eager to highlight my athletic achievements thus far. Since 2022, I have been an integral part of the Seoul Inchang high school soccer team, competing at the varsity level. My primary position is Center Forward, showcasing my ability to lead the offensive line, but I am also adept at playing as a Center Back and Attacking Midfielder. Throughout the 2023/24 conference games, I achieved four goals, demonstrating my effectiveness as a goal scorer.
What sets me apart is my exceptional physical strength, particularly in ball control, headers, and hold-up play. I pride myself on my commitment to being a responsible player on and off the field. When our team faced challenges, I took the initiative to organize additional training sessions and fostered a positive team atmosphere, prioritizing improved teamwork and overall performance. Moreover, my previous and current coaches recognize me as a diligent and consistent player.
Understanding the importance of academic excellence, I am fully committed to achieving the qualification for admission to a college in the United States. Throughout my high school years, I have focused myself to developing as a soccer player instead of balancing my academic responsibilities. Whiled my current GPA is around 2.0, I am committed to improving my academic performance. This past year, I focused intensely on my English abilities, and as a result, I achieved a TOEFL score of 69 in early 2024. This accomplishment has given me the confidence that I can manage both my academic and athletic responsibilities at the collegiate level. I will move to CA around November 2024 in order for starting college in Spring semester 2025.
My skills, dedication, and positive attitude align closely with the values and vision of the team. It would be an honor to contribute to the team's success and make a positive impact both on and off the field.
I would be immensely grateful for the chance to discuss my potential inclusion on the team further. Considering my current location in Korea, it would be more convenient to communicate via email or WhatsApp using my mom's contact(+821054459522) information. If it becomes necessary to include my high school team's head coach in the discussion, I would be happy to assist with translation as needed.
