Personal Statement
My name Is Daniel(Minhyung) Kim and I play as a striker/winger. It has been a dream of mine to compete at the highest level possible in collegiate soccer. Every time I step on the pitch or into the gym, I always approach it with a purpose to improve my skills and also my physical condition. On the pitch, I do not stop communicating with my team and am not afraid to hold others accountable for their mistakes in a constructive but stern way. I tend to lose my temper with myself when I do not perform up to my standards. However, I feel that this motivates me to work even harder to fix my flaws as a player and improve. I am always confident and not afraid to put in a challenge no matter the size of my opponents. I play aggressively but also with a composed head. As an attacker, I see my role as someone who can counterattack with pace and confidence to beat my defender and finish but also be able to build the play up slowly and be able to possess the ball for as long as possible. As an attacker, I feel my strongest straits are my creativity, speed and the ability to shoot from distance. I have played for Stoke City Academy Shanghai with a former Liverpool coach, Peter Smith. During this time I was able to learn a lot about my position. I commit most of my extra time outside of school into football and still manage my academic life pretty well. I have had a constantly increasing GPA until now. Right now with a cumulative of 3.63, I hope to get this up to at least a 3.75. On the extracurricular side, I am committed to the activities council in our school and also a club called youth spotlight. I am an extremely flexible and coachable player that is willing to work hard and cooperatively with anyone. I am not affected by criticism and rather pushes me harder to fix my flaws. I have a hunger for goals and glory but would much rather enjoy the victories together with the team and this makes me more of a team player that can play among many different types of players. I am always stepping up for my players and being the best teammate possible. I believe that I could be a good fit for many teams as a clinical attacker.
