Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Thanasi but my American friends call me Thanos. I was born in Athens, Greece and I'm a dual citizen, visiting the US most summers. I started playing soccer when I was 5 and I wish to continue playing this sport for as long as I am able. I am passionate and driven in all aspects of my life and strive to maintain a balance between academics and soccer. Academically my goal is to pursue a career in engineering, electrical or aerospace.
I have played every position before settling down as a center-back. I like being someone my team can depend on to get the job done. I have experience playing in many different formations such as 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, 3-4-3, and 5-2-1-2, and other variations. I am comfortable leading and am a vocal leader for my fellow teammates, helping them to maintain their positions and take advantage of any opportunity that presents itself. I am fast, decisive, focused on the game at all times, and have quick reflexes. I remain calm under pressure, collected even when the game is tense, and am known for my strength, allowing me to quickly pass the ball across the field, as well as shoot to score.
