Personal Statement
Dear Coaches,
My name is Adrian, and I play as a fullback and center-back. My goal is to continue my soccer journey beyond high school and bring my passion for the game into college, where I can perform at my best both academically and athletically.
My soccer journey began in 6th grade when I initially played the sport to stay fit. What started as a casual way to stay active quickly turned into a deep emotional connection to the game. Over time, my love for soccer grew from a hobby into something I think about constantly. Whether it’s staying up late to watch Liverpool or training daily, my life revolves around the sport that has given me purpose and passion.
As a player, I’m a tall, agile defender who combines strength with quickness. I’m calm under pressure and take pride in organizing the defensive line with strong communication and game intelligence. My strongest attributes are my technical defending, exceptional 1-on-1 abilities, and my skill in building attacks from the back to contribute to offensive plays.
What sets me apart as a candidate for your team is not only my advanced soccer abilities but also my work ethic and mindset. I train 4-5 times a week, go to the gym every other day, and maintain a disciplined recovery routine to stay at my peak performance. When I make a mistake on the pitch, my instinct is to immediately recover—whether it’s winning back the ball or covering for a teammate.
In addition to my athletic attributes, I bring leadership and academic discipline. I’ve had the honor of captaining both my school’s team and my club team (ESA). I was captain of my freshman JV team and led my club team in 2022, showing my ability to take on leadership roles. Academically, I achieved a 3.64 GPA in my first semester of high school and am working hard to achieve even higher grades. Balancing competitive soccer with strong academics has been challenging, but I’ve proven that I can excel in both areas—something that not all recruits can claim.
As a sophomore, I’m focused on the next step in my soccer career: playing at the collegiate level. I’m committed to working hard, showing grit and determination, and contributing to the success of your program.
