Personal Statement
I am a passionate soccer player who has progressed to regional level with an interest in international political sciences and international history. The United States has a major influence on global politics and I want to study political sciences in the United Sates to have the best understanding of American politics and what influences it's world view.
For the last three years I have been playing for the age groups above me: in the 2019/2020 season I was playing for a U16-U17 team, despite being a U15 player. We won the division and got promoted to the Regional 2 league, the third highest level for that category. In 2020/2021 I played for the same team that moved into U18 regional 2.
At the beginning of the 2021/2022 season, I was unhappy with changes in the local club that I was playing for, so I went to trials for the few high school soccer teams in my region in France. I was awarded a place in the Lycée Pardailhan high school soccer team in the town of Auch, the capitol city of the Gers department (there are 96 departments in France). A coach for Auch Football, the biggest and best team in the department, saw me at the trials and invited me to play for their U18 team which plays in the highest national division open to U18s. Since September 2021 I have been training and playing for both teams, on average six days a week.
For the three years I have been playing in U18 teams I have acquired a lot of experience and I continue to develop whilst playing at the highest level that I can.
I always set myself objectives for soccer and this provides me with additional motivation for my daily training and I do everything I can to succeed. In may last year in the French equivalent to junior high school, I wanted to get promoted to play at a higher level so I looked for high school with a soccer team in order to train everyday. I succeeded and now play at the highest level for my age and I am now looking to play for a college or university team in the USA.
I want to play and study in the US because American goalkeepers are considered amongst the best in the world and I want to play with the best so that I can be the best. The US coaching and sporting culture and vision is different from what I know in France and the experiencing it firsthand will broaden my knowledge, understanding and skills. Finally, understanding american culture and politics is essential for international political sciences, and there is no better way to do this than immersion in the country.
I am determined to play and study in the US from the fall of 2023, and I believe that I can make a significant contribution to college soccer. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or comments.
