Personal Statement
My name is Keith Mogwera, and I am an 18-year-old soccer player from Adelaide, Australia. My journey in soccer began at the age of six after moving back to Australia from Botswana, where I spent the early years of my childhood. Coming from a passionate soccer family, my love for the game has grown with me, and it has always been my dream to play at the highest level. College soccer is the next step in making that dream a reality, while also pursuing my academic interests.
Athletic Background
I have been fortunate to achieve significant milestones in my soccer career so far. I have played for the Playford Patriots since I was young, and in 2022, I was the top goalscorer for the Under 17s and part of the state championship-winning team. In 2023, I was honored to receive the Best and Fairest award for the Under 18s. In 2024, I was the runner-up for the Top Goalscorer award, which motivates me to push harder every season.
At Trinity College, I debuted for the First XI in 2022, where I’ve earned several recognitions, including the Coaches Award in 2024 and being the runner-up for Best and Fairest in the same year. Beyond club and school soccer, I have represented the Under 18 South Australia State Team and had the unique opportunity to trial with West Ham United in 2023. In 2025, I will participate in the Botswana Under 20 Selection Trials, which is an exciting chance to showcase my abilities on the international stage.
Training and Work Ethic
I take great pride in my strong work ethic and dedication to improving as a player. My weekly training schedule includes club training three times a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday), along with club games on Saturdays. In addition, I attend school soccer training on Monday mornings, with school matches on Wednesdays. To further enhance my fitness, I also participate in track and field training sessions three times a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Friday). This demanding schedule has taught me the importance of discipline, time management, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
Goals
My ultimate goal is to play soccer at the highest level, competing against the best in the world. I am committed to pushing my boundaries and continuously improving both on and off the field. Playing soccer at the collegiate level will allow me to develop my skills while pursuing my education, ensuring I have a balanced and well-rounded future.
I am eager to bring my passion, determination, and work ethic to your soccer program. Thank you for considering me as a potential addition to your team. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to the success of your program.
Sincerely,
Keith Mogwera
