Personal Statement

Hi...my name is Damir Coeriel and I'm from Curacao. I started playing soccer since I was 3 years old. My first Team was SUBT (soccer club in Curacao) and I played my first tournament at the age of 5. My native language is papiamentu, but I can also speak English, Spanish and Dutch fluently. My favorite soccer teams are FC Barcelona and the national team of Brazil. Last year I change team and now I'm playing with SPORT CLUB ATLETIKO SALINA U17. Beside training and playing for this team, I also receive private training at the "De Jong Academy Curacao"(https://curacao.dejongacademy.nl/). I've participated in different soccer camps on the island and this year (July 2022) I went to a FC Barcelona camp in Taunton Massachusetts, in which I received an invitation after the camp to go to Barcelona. I have also been invited two times to the national (Curacao) selection for both U14 and U17.  My collegiate goals and aspirations are to play at a high level, get a degree and enjoy the game while playing against top Soccer Schools.  I also received a two weeks invitation(showcase) at the youth club Helmond Sport in the Netherlands.

Home base at the “Sportpark Bijstervelden” in the Reeshof district. This accommodation has three playing fields with natural grass, three artificial grass fields (competition and training) and a natural grass training field. The main field is equipped with lighting and the stands can accommodate 400 spectators. The club colors are red and white.

Players are selected by two criteria: skills and FC Barcelona values. Coaches put the same emphasis on playing ability and behavior. It is of the utmost importance players carry themselves whilst following the main FCB values: Humility, Effort, Ambition, Respect, and Teamwork. The amount of selected players varies between cities due to the difference in level between the Barça Academy Camps and the size of each Camp.
