Personal Statement
What sets me apart from other candidates is the fact that I have successfully been able to mix my high level of natural talent with hard work and dedication. No matter what challenge is put in front of me, wether it be a sporting or academic one, I will always be able to overcome it. I have played football for 11 years and already at just 17 years old have gone through an ACL surgery and am about to come out the other side stronger, faster and even more dedicated to my passion of soccer than ever. Alongside with my extensive experience, I have also played at an extremely high level, performing in a national cup last year after winning our regional cup via a penalty shootout (which I saved 3 out of the 5 penalty in). My grades averaged at GCSE a 6.9 which is the equivalent to an A and I am projected at English college to get 3 distinction stars in a btec level 3 extended diploma in sport which is the equivalent of 3 A*'s. Alongside this I have also just picked up a 4th A level to set even further apart from my academic competition and also because I have a real interest in the subject, I am currently predicted a C in this but have only been taking the class for a month meaning that I am most likely to surpass that prediction.
To further show why I believe that I would be a great candidate for your college, this is what my goalkeeper coach said about me
To whom it may concern .
I’m writing this letter on behalf of Dylan Christie.
I’ve known Dylan for 3 1/2 years, we met when he joined the club (Salisbury FC) where I’m a Goalkeeper Coach.
I’m often approached by players to give recommendations and references.
When Dylan asked, it was without doubt an absolute honour for me to give him a reference.
On his ability as a goalkeeper I have to say he’s outstanding, particularly given his age.
We’ve played in leagues of a very high standard, just below academy level, Dylan stood out as one of the best if not the best goalkeeper in the league .
Dylan has many sought after attributes; technically excellent, brave, passionate and very much a team player.
Throughout our training sessions in between matches, was for me where Dylan shone.
Dylan’s willingness to learn, try new techniques, as well as work on areas of his game were his real strengths.
Dylan always wants to improve and is willing to dedicate himself to the max to achieve the best results.
Aside from football, Dylan is a kind and thoughtful young man, with a maturity beyond his years. He is always a pleasure to be around.
Whichever path in life Dylan decides to take, I know he will apply himself and commit 100% to the cause. He would be a great asset to anyone or any team he works with.
I feel privileged to have known Dylan and believe I only scratched the surface of his talent.
Best regards,
Mark Patience
Salisbury FC Goalkeeper Coach.
