Personal Statement
Greeting Coaches,
My name is Harrison Hong and I am currently 18 years old. I was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 2001. In June 2012, a new chapter began in my life as it was a last-minute decision to move to Mandalay, Myanmar, a country that is trying its best to develop over the past few years. My last year in middle school was brutal as coaches denied me from try-outs because of my excessive weight. During the summer, I wanted to prove my coaches and teammates wrong so I would train alone every day individually. In my first year of high school, I had finally achieved my goal by losing weight. Coaches and teammates were surprised by me because of my hard work. I have finally been honored to be the captain of my high school team for all four years. I have been playing center holding midfield (CDM) and have very good defensive capacity, ability to win back possession, and ability to create opportunities in attack. My goals are to work the best for any team that I get recruited to and I would love to be vocal so we defend and attack as a whole team! In Myanmar, I see myself as a distinguished player who has two personalities on and off the pitch. When I'm on the pitch, I'm desire to do the best for my team as they are counting on me. My face turns serious and I want no jokes from my teammates at all. Off the pitch, I'll tell them to take nothing personally from what I said during the game but to take it as a compliment to be the best in the future. When it comes to academics, I'm not the smartest person in class but I have decent grades that make my parents satisfied. I have excellent time management where I would always complete a task and move on to the other ones.
